Overview

The LD-12 flood detector senses water bridging its electrodes and provides a wired signal suitable for alarm panel inputs. It is intended for indoor spot detection where water is likely to accumulate (basements, near water heaters, bathrooms). The unit operates from a 12 V DC supply and is designed for continuous monitoring with minimal power draw.

Wiring and output behavior

Wiring convention: red = +12 V, black = GND. When the electrodes are joined by water (flood condition), the blue wire is connected to GND and the yellow wire is disconnected from GND. When water is no longer present the blue wire disconnects from GND and the yellow wire connects to GND. The yellow lead is typically used as the alarm input signal to a control panel.

Installation guidance

Install the electrodes at locations where water first accumulates. Verify power polarity and cable integrity before commissioning. Use proper cable routing and protect wiring joints against corrosion and mechanical stress. LD-12 is for indoor use; avoid exposing the sensor head uncontrolled to flowing water without appropriate protection.
